Apex: The meeting point of the lines within the skin pattern
Apollo Finger: The third finger of the hand. Arch Pattern: One of the skin patterns, resembling a humpback bridge.
Bar: A short influence ,ark, which can appear across lines or as horizontal marks denoting a hindrance.

Chain: A series of small islands that give a chaining effect to a line.
Chirognomy: The study of the basic shape of the hand.
Chiromancy: The study of the lines of the hand, a traditional term.
Composite Pattern: One of the skin patterns, which can be made up of a variation of an arch, loop, or whorl.
Conic Hand: Traditional term, still widely used, for a round hand.
Creative Curve: A clearly developed curve on the percussion (outer) side of the hand.
Croix Mystique: A clearly defined cross beneath the niddle finger between the head and heart lines.
Cross: An influence mark that may appear anywhere on a hand.
Dermatoglyphics: The study of the skin pattern in the fingers and palm.
Digital Mounts: The fleshy prominences under each of the four fingers.
Empty Hand: A palm with a few visible lines.
Family Ring: A line, usually chained, that links the second and third phalange of the thumb.
Fate Line: The line that starts at the wrist and goes directly to the base of the middle finger.
Full Hand: A palm with a vast complexity of crisscrossing lines.
Girdle of Venus: A small semicircular line or series of broken lines running from anywhere on the mount of Jupiter to the mounts of Apollo and/or Mercury.
Grille: Small, vertical and horizontal influence lines that form a grille pattern on the surface of the palm.
Head Line: The line that begins near the line of life on the radial side of the hand and sweeps out into the palmar surface.
Health Line: Another name for the Mercury line.
Heart Line: The line that begins under the first finger and curves gently all the way to the percussion.
Hepatica: An ancient name for the Mercury line.
Index Finger: The first or the Jupiter finger.
Influence Marks: Small lines or patterns that can be seen anywhere on a hand.
Island: A small mark on a line that suggest weakness.
Jupiter Finger: The first or the index finger.
Life Line: This can start almost anywhere on the radial side of the hand, curving around the mount of Venus toward the wrist.
